Our Repair Process

  • Initial Contact

Having an accident can be very stressful. Our goal is to take the stress and worries out of the situation. Simply give us a call, email us, or stop by our facility. We’ll help guide you through the entire process of getting your vehicle back to you as soon as possible.

  • Initial Estimate or Scheduling for repairs

Often times our customers come to our facility, to “Get an Estimate” while this has been the most common practice for insurance companies in the past, it is becoming more common for the customer to let the insurance company know who he/she would like to repair their vehicle. The customer then schedules the appointment to have the repairs done. This way the insurance company and Mohawk Collision Center work together to create a complete repair plan for the vehicle.

  • The Drop Off

When you drop off the vehicle for your appointment, we will first prewash your vehicle and do a complete walk around with you to confirm all of the areas we are going to repair based on the claim. We will then ask you to sign any required paperwork as well as introduce you to the rental company staff to get you on your way.

  • Blueprint and Repair Planning

When the vehicle is brought into our repair facility we will have a certified technician start the disassembly process. While this is happening, one of our licensed estimators will write a full blueprint of what is required to properly repair the vehicle. We start by doing a full diagnostic computer scan. This is basically a “Health” check of all of the computer and monitoring systems in the vehicle. We then research all of the latest “OEM” repair procedures for your vehicle. Many manufacturers have specific instructions on how each model of vehicle is to be repaired after a collision. During disassembly, we look for any additional parts or “Supplement” damages that may have been hidden upon the initial inspection. By following this process we ensure a safe, quality and expedited repair.

  • Insurance and Customer Approval

Once we have completed the blueprint and repair plan, we contact the customer and the insurance company. We send them a copy of our repair plan for approval. Sometimes we get an immediate approval, other times it can take a number of days depending on the insurance company.

  • Parts Delivery

Once approved, any additional required parts will be ordered. Most parts deliveries take 1-3 business days.

  • Body Repairs

The body repairs on your vehicle will be made by our factory certified, I-Car certified collision technicians. We have made a substantial investments in equipment and technician training to ensure safe and proper repairs to your vehicle.

  • Refinishing

Our certified refinish technicians are trained to accurately match your vehicles finish. We have equipped them with “State of the art” Axalta computerized paint system, as well as Accudraft spray booths and Revo advanced curing systems.

  • Reassembly

After the refinishing process is complete and the vehicles new finish has been “baked” at 150 degrees. The vehicle enters the denib and polish process to ensure there are no dust nibs or contaminants left in the new finish. From here the vehicle is reassembled and nearing completion.

  • Detail

Now that all of the parts have been reinstalled on your vehicle, it will move to our detail department to be cleaned and prepped for final delivery.

  • Post Repair Scan

One of the most important aspects of a quality repair is to perform the post-repair “health” scan. Most automotive manufacturers require this scan to ensure all of the vehicle systems are functioning correctly before the vehicle is put back on the road.

  • Final Quality Control Check

The last but most important step in our repair process is our final quality control check. This includes a review and double check of all aspects of the repair that was completed. As well as a complimentary check of all of your basic components not affected by the repair, such as headlights, taillights, blinkers, brake lights, windows, locks etc.

  • Delivery

The vehicle has passed quality control, and you will now be contacted to arrange a time for you to take delivery of your vehicle.
